3D Scan – Digital Factory Planning by HAHN + KOLB

To solve this problem, HAHN+KOLB offers the possibility to create a digital twin of the industrial plant. This digital twin can cover different areas as needed, from architecture and supporting structures to technical building equipment and the entire machinery fleet.
The “digital factory” is a digital twin of a planned or existing factory. Advanced 3D laser scanning is used to create a virtual image of the premises, including all machines, production lines, and facilities.
Use of 3D Laser Scanners for Industrial Digitalization
Digital twins are created using 3D laser scanners. This technology enables existing industrial plants to be captured in the form of a precise point cloud at a 1:1 scale, and then reconstructed as a 3D model.
Depending on specific requirements and the desired level of detail, the digital twin can accurately represent everything present.
The laser scanner enables contactless, three-dimensional detection of specific areas and measurement objects, both inside and outside buildings.
The scanner scans the surfaces at up to two million pixels per second and measures the reflected beams. The exact distance between the scanner and the object is calculated based on the time it takes for the laser to travel to the object and back.
The points detected during the scan are stored in a point cloud, producing a copy of the space's geometry. This point cloud can then be used for various applications, such as creating a 3D model.
3D laser scanners can be used stationary and mobile. Stationary 3D laser scanners are suitable for capturing large exterior objects in three dimensions, while mobile 3D scanners are often used indoors.
